What is a Sleep study?
A sleep study (also known as a polysomnogram) is a test that records your child’s sleeping patterns overnight. This valuable test helps us to diagnose sleep disorders in children. A child is monitored throughout the night while sleeping in the sleep laboratory or hospital room. During a sleep study, we will measure the following parameters to get an idea of the events that occur during a child’s night-sleep:
- Brain activity and Sleep stages
- Breathing rate and pattern
- Heart rate
- Eye movements
- Blood oxygen levels
- Muscle activity
