Sleep Study (Polysomnography) in Children

What is a Sleep study?

sleep study (also known as a polysomnogram) is a test that records your child’s sleeping patterns overnight. This valuable test helps us to diagnose sleep disorders in children. A child is monitored throughout the night while sleeping in the sleep laboratory or hospital room. During a sleep study, we will measure the following parameters to get an idea of the events that occur during a child’s night-sleep:

  • Brain activity and Sleep stages
  • Breathing rate and pattern
  • Heart rate
  • Eye movements
  • Blood oxygen levels
  • Muscle activity
